In the summer of 2012 Daniel and Sarah Barrett, along with a few other individuals and families recognized the growing need for an international church in the city of Jaco, Costa Rica. Later that same year, in a step of faith, under the Barrett's leadership, this small group began pursuing the vision that God had given with regards to a new church plant.

Horizon Church now exists as one of the largest English speaking churches in the country. The ministry impact to the international community continues to grow and Horizon Church is helping to bring people to a saving knowledge of Christ and become "fully functioning followers of Jesus".
