As an adoptee from Guatemala, Catherine has long had a burden to return to her country of birth and serve people who did not have the opportunities she had growing up in the United States. Catherine prayed for the Lord to lead her back abroad in his perfect timing during the years she spent post-college working with the youth ministry at The City Gates Church in Fairfax, VA.

In May 2021, Catherine had a strong conviction that she was supposed to take a step of faith and travel to Guatemala and see what the Lord was doing there and whether she should be a part of it. The Lord showed Catherine many things during the couple of months she spent in Guatemala. He grew Catherine in trust and dependence on Him as she listened to His voice on who to talk to and where to go. Eventually, the Lord led Catherine to a church called Calvary Antigua where she met a missionary couple with a vision of building a transition home & program for young people that are aging out of the orphanage system. This ministry needs female believers with a heart for discipleship to come alongside young women as they begin navigating life as adults. God has been growing Catherine in this area throughout the years with the City Gates Youth Group and has given her a desire to serve young women struggling with many of the questions and difficulties she has encountered in her own life.

Catherine's hope and prayer is to demonstrate Christ to these young women and show them that they can find belonging, identity, and purpose as daughters of the King. It's an honor for Catherine to partner with the City Gates Church in loving and reaching people for Jesus in Guatemala.
